Finished in elegant black leatherette with a brushed aluminium front, chrome controls and twin telescopic antennas, this model perfectly captures the clean industrial design of the era. Unlike standard portable radios, the RE-1540 offers an impressive 5-band receiver, including FM, AM, Shortwave, Aviation and Public Service bands, making it an attractive collector's piece as well as a functional vintage receiver. The radio has been tested and is fully working. It receives stations well, all controls operate smoothly and both original telescopic antennas extend correctly. The battery compartment is exceptionally clean and still retains its original battery removal ribbon. Manufactured in Japan, where many of the finest transistor radios of the period were produced, this model combines reliable engineering with timeless 1970s design.
