1920s large Art Deco Planter H39cm - Jardinière - Holz

Antique Art Deco Planter / Cachepot – Ebonised Wood with Gilt Decoration, 1920s – In excellent condition – No reserve. A striking and elegant Art Deco planter or cachepot from the 1920s, executed in ebonised wood and richly decorated with hand-painted floral urn motifs in warm gold and red tones. The tapering, architectural form and restrained yet luxurious decoration make this a refined decorative object that works equally well as a planter, umbrella stand, or sculptural interior accent. The black ebonised ground provides strong contrast to the gilded floral compositions, which are framed by subtle red and gold lining. The overall appearance is both graphic and decorative, characteristic of high-end quality interior pieces from the interwar period. During the 1920s, Art Deco design embraced strong geometry, stylised natural motifs, and luxurious surface finishes. Ebonised wood combined with gilt detailing was widely used for interior accessories, offering an elegant alternative to lacquered or metal objects. Pieces like this planter were intended for refined domestic interiors, bridging classical ornament with modern form. Material and technique Ebonised wood Hand-painted decoration with gilt and polychrome elements Original painted interior and base Dimensions and weight Approx. 39 x 28.5 x 28.5 cm (h x w x d) Approx. 3.1 kg Condition In very good antique condition, consistent with age. Visible surface wear, small losses and patina to edges and base, all commensurate with careful use over more than a century. The decoration remains clear and attractive, with no structural issues. Suitable as a planter with an inner pot, decorative cachepot, or statement object in an Art Deco, eclectic, or classic interior.
