The Shantung dial is considered to be one of the most rarest dials, that Rolex producted in it's history as a watchmaker. The name Shantung refers to the horizontal wave texture of Shantung silk from China. The Shantung dial on this Rolex is of course original. The watch is sold with the original box and documentation from Monetti in Napels, one of the oldest Rolex dealers in Italy. Monetti sold this 18k Rolex ref. 1002 in 1974. The watch is stamped between the lugs with the correct numbers "1002" and "3219571" for productionyear 1973. The combination of the Shantung dial and the original documentation, makes this lot a "one time opportunity" and a "must have" for the true collector.
