Klira - 254 Montana, Kreibich - - Akustikgitarre - Deutschland - 1961

Please read the English version for the correct translation! This is a rare model 'Kreibich' guitar, made by the German (WDR) company "Klira". It is probably a 1961 Klira 254 Montana. This one comes from my personal collection and is being sold because playing at my age is becoming increasingly limiting. I bought this two decades ago; it's my first German guitar and the undisputed reason I started collecting old German guitars; this one is a awesome player! Before then, I wasn't aware that these German oldies had such good acoustic sound and projection. This particular guitar has been serviced at some point, refretted, and fitted with a new neck-adjustment screw system. Yes, it has that beautiful lyre tailpiece. A new ebony bridge and a set of good, smooth-working tuners also complete the whole setup. All tuners work well and hold the tune nicely. Due to these modifications, the guitar is no longer 100% original, but it is the better self! This particular neck feels quite modern, although a little bigger than you are probably used to. I quickly got used to it myself. It has nice action for an acoustic non-electric guitar, beautiful small 'needle' frets and supports fast playing. Scale length: 636mm. Like most German guitars from that era, this one features a non-truss rod neck. A zero fret ensures that, regardless of the string gauge, you always automatically get the lowest possible string height near the lower positions. When adjusting: here only the bridge height is important! The sound is -as you might have expected- very jazzy and quite loud indeed. A new set of 011 'Gypsy jazz' strings was recently installed, further enhancing the tone. It undoubtedly plays like a modern guitar should. Excellent for jazz, soul, blues and fingerpicking styles. The finish (Red burst) is actually not that bad at all; as you can see in the pictures. This instrument has been well-played and well-maintained. Of course; there are all kinds of dents, scratches, cracks and dings, wear and tear and battle injuries visible. In short: expect everything (but nothing serious) that's normal for a used guitar of this age.! There's not much information about 'Kreibich' online. We think it was a music-instruments retailer that did its own labeling (which was common in those days). This is the perfect opportunity to purchase a nice playing charming and elegant rare vintage German guitar. This oldie is definitely a fine sounding player and ready to gig..! ------------------ I'm loosening the strings a bit for transport. So, you'll need to tune the guitar again upon arrival. The colors may differ slightly from reality due to the monitor and the camera. Private sale: so no guarantees, returns and all risks are always for the buyer. Any additional costs, such as VAT, import duties, and customs fees, are the buyer's responsibility. As with all vintage (or older) guitars: This instrument has been well-played and well-maintained for over half a century. However, you should always be aware of scratches, dents, and material fatigue—in short, everything that's normal for this age. By placing a bid you agree with the above. It will of course be carefully packed and insured during transport! Happy bidding and enjoy making music!
