The dolls feature finely modeled white faces with calm, dignified expressions, characteristic of quality Japanese craftsmanship. Both figures are dressed in richly layered silk brocade kimono: Empress (Ohina-sama): Wearing a vibrant multi-layered jūni-hitoe style kimono in shades of red, pink, and gold, beautifully decorated with classical motifs. She is adorned with a traditional crown (kanmuri), symbolizing court nobility. Emperor (Odairi-sama): Dressed in a stately dark brocade robe with gold and multicolored woven patterns, reflecting refined court attire. The textiles show careful folding and volume, emphasizing the ceremonial nature of these figures. Facial painting, hairstyles, and proportions are well-balanced, suggesting production by an experienced workshop. These dolls are ideal for collectors of Japanese antiques, traditional festival dolls, or Asian decorative arts, and make a striking display piece even outside the Hinamatsuri season.
