Japan - double live 'Oil On Canvas' - LP - Erstpressung - 1983

Music can be diverse but no band has ever sounded like the bBritish group Japan. Elegant, spherical, boarding on ambient but still with strong song structures. Wryly they split just bordering on commercial breakthrough. To cover the loss a double live album was releases six months later. Here on offer: the much sought after Oil on canvas. The album on offer resembled the groups image. Spotless, perfect in every detail, well-kept. It is in absolute mint condition. Played once for recording, put in protective inner and outer sleeves and stored safely. First pressing too! Japan started in the glamrock era but gained depth by the curious songwriting and the eqally unique voice of David Sylvian. Arty, well-behaved, they were once described as the ideal Sunday Times supplement group, mostly filed under new wave. Their singles were instantly recognizable. Gentlemen taking polaroids, Visions of China, Still life, Ghosts, Canton and of course Night Porter. They only made six studio albums, they quickly sold out and since then were many times released and repackaged in various formats. The biggest seller was Oil on Canvas, a double live album recorded at the Hammersmith during their last tour. Three instrumental studio tracks ("Oil On Canvas", "Voices Raised In Welcome, Hands Held In Prayer", and "Temple Of Dawn"),were also added. Although a big seller, the album is froughtly searched for. I guess everybody wants to keep their copy. You can have mine. It is, as said, in perfect condition. I will add inner and outer sleeves. It wqill be preciously packed and swiftly send. Virgin, 302 178 406, Europe, first pressed. Vinyl mint, gatefold sleeve mint.
