Description Japanese Formal Kimono – Kurotomesode – Gold Landscape Design – Silk – Showa Period Refined Japanese kurotomesode, the most formal type of kimono for married women, traditionally worn on ceremonial occasions. This elegant piece features a deep black silk ground adorned with an elaborate hand-decorated landscape scene along the hem. The lower section is richly embellished with gold-toned detailing, depicting traditional architecture, nature, and seasonal motifs in a continuous panoramic composition. The restrained placement of the decoration below the waist is characteristic of kurotomesode and reflects classical Japanese aesthetics and formality. The kimono is finished with family crests (mon) on the upper body, emphasizing its formal status. The silk fabric has a smooth, high-quality feel with a dignified drape.
