The original copy used for this edition is held by the National Széchényi Library (catalogue no. Inc. 1143). The chronicle presents the history of Hungary up to the author’s own time (c. 1470), drawing on royal charters, earlier chronicles, and oral tradition. The final chapters describe the reign and military campaigns of King Matthias, including the capture of Vienna. The facsimile reproduces the complete 1488 Augsburg edition on high-quality paper and includes 41 hand-coloured woodcut illustrations depicting Hungarian kings and historical figures. The accompanying essay volume contains the full Hungarian translation of the chronicle, followed by a scholarly study on its historical background and the facsimile edition.
