Japan. Meiji. 1 Yen Yr 34 (1901) (Ohne mindestpreis)

Item Description This is an authentic 1901 (Meiji 34) One Yen Silver Coin, representing the final year of the Meiji dragon-design silver coinage series. Minted during a transitional period in Japanese monetary history, this coin was produced specifically for use by the Bank of Taiwan as convertible reserve currency, rather than for domestic circulation in Japan proper. The obverse features the iconic ascending dragon ("nobori-ryu") design, a powerful symbol of imperial authority and national strength, surrounded by the inscription "Dai Nippon Meiji Sanjuyon Nen" (Great Japan, Year 34 of Meiji). The reverse displays the denomination "Ichi En" (One Yen) at center, crowned by the imperial chrysanthemum crest, with delicate rice and paulownia leaf motifs flanking both sides. Struck in 90% silver with a weight of 26.96 grams and diameter of 38.1mm, this coin exemplifies the high-quality minting standards of the Meiji era. The 1901 issue marked the beginning of the late-period small-type series, which continued until 1914 (Taisho 3). This particular specimen has not been professionally graded but is authenticated as genuine. It displays honest wear consistent with age, including surface scratches, edge wear, and natural silver toning/darkening that develops over more than 120 years. These characteristics are typical of circulated late Meiji coinage and add to the coin's historical authenticity. A significant piece of Japanese numismatic history from the dawn of the 20th century. Size Height: 38.1 mm (diameter) Width: 38.1 mm (diameter) Depth: 2.5 mm (approximate thickness) Weight 26.95 g / 0.027 kg Condition Genuine specimen showing age-appropriate circulation wear with visible surface scratches, edge friction, and natural silver toning. No professional grading. - Shipping method- The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
