Japanische Imari-Style Porzellanvase - Porzellan - Japan - Meiji Periode (1868-1912)

Title Japanese Imari-Style Porcelain Vase – Meiji to Taishō Period ⸻ Description Decorative porcelain vase in traditional Japanese Imari style, featuring a baluster-shaped body with a flared rim. The vase is richly decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and iron-red enamels, with floral motifs, stylised foliage and landscape elements arranged in panelled reserves. The decoration shows classic Imari characteristics, including alternating patterned sections, bold blue outlines and iron-red grounds combined with white reserves. Scenic elements such as flowers, plants and landscape motifs are carefully composed, reflecting the aesthetic developed for export wares during Japan’s late Meiji to early Taishō period. The interior of the rim is painted with geometric Imari-style patterns, while the exterior displays a balanced and symmetrical decorative layout. The overall execution suggests production intended for the Western export market, typical of Japanese porcelain from the turn of the 20th century. The base bears a red-painted Japanese character mark reading “Sanpō-zō” (三保造). This mark indicates production by or for a commercial workshop and is characteristic of Japanese export porcelain of the Meiji–Taishō period. It is a workshop or commercial mark rather than an imperial or commemorative reign mark. ⸻ Condition Good • Minor surface wear consistent with age • Light firing imperfections visible upon close inspection • No visible cracks, chips or restorations observed • Please refer to photographs for a complete impression of condition ⸻ Material Porcelain ⸻ Country of origin Japan ⸻ Period Late Meiji – early Taishō period (circa 1890–1920) ⸻ Dimensions (approx.) • Height: 21.7 cm • Width: 13.7 cm • Depth: 13.7 cm ⸻ Weight 744 grams ⸻ Colour Polychrome (iron-red, cobalt blue, white) ⸻ Shipping method • Shipping via postal service at buyer’s expense • Local pick-up possible by arrangement ⸻ Additional Notes This vase is a decorative object intended for display.
