This large crown coin represents the Spanish Habsburg authority over the Low Countries during the mid-17th century. The obverse displays a finely detailed armored bust of Philip IV facing right, wearing an elaborate ruff and ceremonial armor, surrounded by a bold Latin legend and the date 1654 at the top. Under magnification, the final digit reveals a clear overdate 4 over 3, a previously unrecorded variety not listed in Van Houdt nor Krause — making this coin numismatically unique. The reverse shows the crowned Spanish coat of arms, flanked by two rampant lions — the heraldic guardians of the Southern Netherlands — with the denomination “3 M” and Brussels mintmark clearly visible.
