Art Nouveau Buntglasfenster (2) - 1910-1920 - 45x32cm
2x Stained-Glass Faceted Mirror Window Panel – approx. 1910 – Art Nouveau - Amsterdam (NL)
High-end quality – In excellent condition – No reserve.
A striking early-20th-century interior statement piece, crafted in Amsterdam city centre around 1910. This refined panel blends the elegance of stained glass with the structural strength of a brass frame—an upscale and far more durable construction than conventional leaded (glass-in-lead) windows. The result is a luxurious, architecturally inspired decorative object that feels as solid as it looks.
The design features hand-formed, hand-blown relief glass in vivid blocks of honey-yellow, deep ruby-red, opalescent white and emerald green. The glass shows authentic artisan characteristics, including subtle surface relief, air bubbles, and small irregularities inherent to mouth-blown production—clear indicators of period craftsmanship rather than flaws.
At the centre sits a faceted, mirror-cut glass jewel: a facet-ground mirror insert with beautifully foxed and naturally weathered surface, preserved exactly as found. The mirror carries a softly patinated haze with fine age wear, creating a compelling focal point that catches and scatters light with a gem-like presence.
This listing includes 2 identical panels from the same architectural salvage source, each fitted with a solid brass hanging chain, allowing immediate display in a home, office, gallery wall or restoration project.

Cultural & historical context
Stained-glass interior panels flourished in popularity in the early 1900s in major European cities, particularly in architectural capitals such as Amsterdam, where artisans supplied bespoke glasswork for canal houses, town residences, cafés and boutique commercial interiors. Brass-framed stained-glass panels were positioned at the luxury end of the market, offering superior longevity and resistance to vibration, temperature shifts and humidity compared to traditional leaded windows, which were softer, more fragile, and more prone to structural fatigue. The opalescent and ruby glass tones seen here strongly align with the Amsterdam decorative palette of the late Jugendstil/ Art Nouveau period transitioning into early Art Deco.
