A refined Chinese tiered display stand, crafted from Chinese quince wood with a warm reddish-brown finish. The stand is composed as a rectangular open cabinet with an asymmetrical arrangement of stepped shelves, creating a lively and well-balanced composition. The side panels are enriched with finely reticulated cut-outs in the shapes of vases, folding fans and more. Attached to the right side is an additional small table-like display platform. Designed for the display of scholar’s objects, small sculptures, bronzes, or porcelain, this type of tiered stand was traditionally used in Chinese scholar’s studios and interiors to create visual hierarchy and rhythm when presenting treasured items. Period: China – Late Qing period to Early Republic period (First half 20th century). Dimensions: Height 51.1 cm, Width 50.5 cm, Depth 10.6 cm.
