Peter Gabriel & Related, Kate Bush - Mint 'Us' plus two collaborations - Diverse Titel - LP - 180 Gramm, Erstpressung, Remastered - 1987
Is there a more versatile, extra-ordinary and warm-hearted artist than Peter Gabriel? I think not. On offer here a wonderful double 180 grams release of his famed hit-filled Us, plus two rare records on which he collaborates.
All albums are in exemplary condition. Hardly played, always stored safely and protected. Both vinyl and sleeves all mint. Plus: original inner sleeves includerd.
1. Us was six years in the making as follow-up to the massively successful So. Like its predecessor it contains strong songs ‘concentrating on rhythm and dance’, contrasting his earlier work. It spawned four singles: Steam, Digging in the dirt, the haunting Blood of Eden and Kiss that Frog. Sinead O’Connor came in for vocals and Daniel Lanois helped in the recording.
Lyrically he surely digged deep. It deals with his divorce from his longtime wife, his relationship with Roseanna Arquette and troubles of fatherhood (Come talk to me is directed at one of his daughters). When finished, it ran for almost sixty minutes, so he choose a double-album-release. He was so pleased with the result that he took it on a world tour.
Being the sound perfectionist he is, this re-release was half-speed mastered for 45 rpm playback on 180 grams vinyl. Have mercy on your neighbours.
Real World Records, PGLPR7 C, 2016, Europe. Including original inner sleeves. Vinyl and sleeve mint.
2. Being the good guy he is, Peter is present at many charity and awareness events. The yearly Secret Policeman Ball, promoting Amnesty International is no exeption. On this night, he took care of the grand finale, singing his famed Biko along with Lou Reed, Youssou N’Dour and many others.
Also on this records are live one-offs by no other than Kate Bush (Running up that hill with David Gilmour and Nick Mason), Lou Reed, Duran Duran, Joan Armatrading and a wonderful duet of Mark Knopfler with Chet Atkins.
Virgin, 208 608-630, 1987, Germany. Including original inner sleeve. Vinyl and sleeve mint.
3. The Epidemics: do what u do. A little-heard of band that could easily be called a supergroup. Formed by renowed violinist Shankar and vocalist Caroline their records featured amazing musicians (many from Zappa’s band). Here its Bill Laswell, Yoko Ono , Warren Cuccorillo and, reason to include it in this auction, Peter Gabriel.
Polydor, 835 288-1, 1987, Germany. Including original inner sleeve. Vinyl and sleeve mint.
There you have them. One of the best Gabriel records, plus remarkable outings of him. Again: all these albums are like new, check the pictures for their condition. I wil add protective outer sleeves. They wil be preciously packed and swiftly send.
