Maurizio Valch (1972) - At a Distance XXL

The piece is in excellent condition, with no damage or restorations. Dimensions: 80 × 120 cm (full image). The work is shipped without frame or stretcher, carefully rolled inside a protective tube. This is an original hand-painted artwork (not a copy or reproduction) and will be delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity. This artwork belongs to the 2026 Series, a phase in which my painting can be interpreted as a zoom-out of pictorial worlds. As if we were moving away from the universes once inhabited by the characters of Marc Chagall —his floating villages, suspended loves, and houses turned upon themselves— to a point where the figures are no longer visible. From that distance, what remains is no longer narrative, but the emotional vibration of the world. Something similar may be said of the spiritual landscapes of Paul Klee, or of certain intimate universes of Wassily Kandinsky: here, those worlds are not represented, but contained. The painting operates as a macro vision —an expanded cartography in which only strata, overlapping skies, and invisible planes remain, the spaces where those stories might once have taken place. The ladders function as bridges between levels of reality. They do not lead to a literal destination, but to an inner passage —a silent movement between layers of consciousness. The small coloured squares act as minimal signals of presence: traces of memory, fragments of awareness, flashes of life that persist beyond the disappearance of the figure. The result is a world that contains other worlds: a painting that does not quote, but absorbs; that does not narrate, but resonates. Rather than representing something concrete, the work invites the viewer to inhabit an intermediate space, where emotion, symbol and silence begin to take form. It is a work conceived for sustained, intimate viewing, unfolding gradually over time. About the artist Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami (USA) until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona (Spain), where he took part in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017 he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has also collaborated with the MACBA. His work combines poetic surrealism, abstraction and symbolic language. Recurring elements such as staircases, portals, celestial forms and minimal architectural traces appear as metaphors for consciousness, memory and transcendence. Many of his paintings are accompanied by original poetic texts.
