This large cross pendant is made from 18k yellow gold, with a platinum front. Its arms are open-worked and have rounded corners, which adds a sense of airiness to the design. The center is set with a cabochon-cut, sapphire which I believe to be of synthetic origin, of circa 0.50 carats. The cross is further studded with 36 old mine-cut and rose-cut diamonds of various sizes. All gemstones have been placed in open settings, allowing light to pass through the stones. Size: 42 x 28 mm, excluding the jump ring. Weight: 3.88 grams. Material and hallmarks: The cross no longer carries any hallmarks but has been acid tested as being 18k gold and platinum. Condition: In good antique condition, with some wear, consistent with its age. One of the arms of the cross was repaired in the past, and a solder mark remains visible at the back.
