The platter is much lighter than the 1200 (no heavy damping under it) and the circuit board that holds the Direct drive mechanism is like the 'lite' version of the 1200 series - when platter is removed it is a neat and tidy work of electronic art. There is much less mass to this turntable than the more expensive models such as the 1200. The tone arm does not have height adjustment. There is no fine adjustment of the speed but sports Quartz lock . 33 and 45 no 78. A real sleeper turntable looks unassuming but it's high art / high economy value from Technics and does the job excellent. Sports the same headshell tech as the best Technics turntables , cartridge options sky is the limit.
