Hangar des Dampfschiffs SS 'Queen Mary' Yugoslav Lloyd AD - Holz

Queen Mary Yugoslav Lloyd AD Wood hanger 42 cm wide, 8 mm thick. Excellently preserved. The steamship SS "Queen Mary" was a cruiser, a large ocean-going luxury tourist steamship for cruises, the largest and most luxurious steamship that sailed into ports on Eastern Adriatic coast and cruised throughout the Mediterranean in the first half of the 20th century. She was the pride of the fleet of Yugoslav Lloyd AD, which is the successor to the company Atlantska plovidba, founded in Split by our shipowner Ivo Račić from Trieste, and which is the successor to his earlier company Slobodna plovidba. The Mary sailed in the Lloyd fleet from 1930 to 1940 and was larger than ocean-going cargo ships fleet. The people of Dubrovnik gave her a magnificent welcome upon her arrival in Dubrovnik in 1931. The ship had several lounges, one of which was for non-smokers, a bar, a café, a swimming pool and as many as 40 bathrooms. Guests were entertained by a lounge orchestra and a jazz band that played during lunch and dinner and in the evenings for dancing. A film was also shown every evening. A doctor was on duty in the ship's infirmary, and passengers had access to a wireless radio telegraph station, a hairdressing salon, a library and a photographer. Truly all the wonders of that time (source: Dubrovnik Diary).
