Europhon Space Age Full Plastic - 980 Transistorradio
Italian Europhon model 980 FM radio, produced in the early 1970s, featuring a strong Space Age design with a long, linear horizontal layout, representative of Italian industrial electronics of the period.
The front panel is characterized by a rational and architectural composition, with slider controls, a horizontal tuning scale, and a raised loudspeaker section, a three-dimensional molded plastic element that reinforces the modern and functional aesthetic. The radio is finished in a vivid orange color, typical of early 1970s Italian design language.
The design is based on the same industrial project concept as the
Magneti Marelli 579, reflecting a shared Italian engineering and production approach of the late 1960s–early 1970s, when different manufacturers developed parallel models using comparable layouts, technical solutions and industrial components.
