Audemars Freres Brassus & Geneve - 35520 - 1900-1949

I present a beautiful, antique Audemars Freres Brassus & Geneve pocket watch. It was made, as I was able to determine, by a descendant of the Audemars family in the early 20th century (1903-1904), while the case was made earlier – around 1881 (compared to adjacent case numbers from the archive). The watch has an 875 silver case, with a Niello-style caseback featuring a woman. A rare example of a custom-made case, featuring an image of a person not associated with hunting. The watch measures 52 mm in diameter. The movement is in very good condition and functions properly. It has been overhauled by a watchmaker. The ceramic dial is like new, and the hands are in beautiful condition. Interestingly, the numerals face inward, making this piece even more unique. Also noteworthy is the engraving inside the case: "Purchaser of His Majesty the Emperor of Russia." I haven't found another piece like this. The movement is most likely Calibre 270 Lepine by Billodes, which again means that Audemars Freres collaborated with Georges Favre-Jacot. This is a top-of-the-line industrial caliber for its time. It's not very common and was never mounted in inexpensive cases. This is a high-quality, collector's watch in good condition. The photos are an integral part of the listing. I've tried to capture the watch's current condition as best as I can. The watch comes with a beautiful chain, shown in the photo. I will ship the package securely and insured immediately after the auction.
