RAEN (XX) - RAEN nº117 - sculpture

ABOUT THE ARTWORK Fir tree Wood propeller, steel and quartzite stone
ABOUT THE ARTIST RAEN is a Spanish sculptor, journalist, and creator of audiovisual and digital content. As a sculptor, RAEN is known for creating pieces and studies of geometric shapes using natural and recycled materials (wood, stone, bone, etc.). His career is a quest to unravel the various manifestations of geometry as an expression of beauty and the ineffable. In this way, he investigates fractal sequences inspired by nature, whether in its biological, geological or astronomical dimension, in his creations in wood and other media. Spirals, helices, fans, fractals and polyhedral evolutions are frequently the forms on which he bases his ‘geometric poems’, which range from small-format pieces to projects for exhibition in public spaces. His work is inspired by and vindicates the presence of these types of geometric patterns in artistic and cultural manifestations that humanity has bequeathed at various times, from Celtic culture to pre-Hispanic American civilisations, from classical Greek societies to contemporary Western artistic movements. As a sculptor, his work also shows a search for movement and internal dynamism, both in kinetic sculptures and in static works. Even in stone works, potential movement is always present in his creations.
