Omega - Seamaster De Ville - Ohne mindestpreis - 166020 - Herren - 1970-1979

Up for sale is a truly special piece: an Omega Seamaster De Ville featuring a custom-made dial with a white gold "USS" insignia, commissioned by United States Steel. These dials were part of a limited run, ordered through Omega's U.S. importer, and given as retirement gifts to select U.S. Steel employees. The 32 million serial number dates the watch's production to around 1970-71. However, it’s likely these watches were produced in the early 1970s and stored by U.S. Steel’s local jeweler to be engraved and gifted when the occasion arose. This particular example, per the caseback inscription, was presented for a retirement in 1975. This watch is in excellent condition, and I believe it was only removed from the box and worn a handful of times, likely on special occasions. The original parts and finishing are intact and in almost mint condition, with only minor marks and scuffs consistent with minimal use. The watch also includes its correct original bracelet with all the original links, which is rarely seen. Adding to its rarity, it comes with the original inner and outer box and warranty papers, a complete set that's incredibly hard to find for a watch of this age. The watch is powered by the Caliber 563/565 movement, part of Omega's celebrated family of calibers, including the 550, 551, 552, 560, 561, 563, 564, 565, and 752—widely regarded as some of the best movements Omega ever produced. It currently runs strong and keeps excellent time. However, the service history is unknown, and given the watch’s history, it is possible it has sat in its box without ever being serviced. A service is recommended for long-term reliability. This Omega Seamaster De Ville is a remarkable piece of both horological and corporate history, making it a standout addition to any collection. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own such a pristine and historically significant timepiece!
