Großes ungerahmtes handbemaltes nepalesisches Thangka Kalachakra Mandala – konzentrische Kreise – - Tibet - 1980–1990
This impressive unframed hand-painted Nepali/Tibetan Thangka, measuring approximately 78cm high x 57cm wide, depicts a profound Mandala (likely Kalachakra or Vajradhatu style), a sacred geometric representation of the universe, time cycles, and the path to enlightenment in Tibetan Buddhism.
Period 1980-1990.
At the center sits the main Buddha (Shakyamuni or Kalachakra deity) in meditative pose on a lotus throne, encircled by multiple concentric rings of intricate design: inner layers filled with numerous small Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and enlightened beings in harmonious symmetry; middle rings featuring geometric palaces, lotus petals, vajra symbols, flames, and rainbow-like borders symbolizing the five wisdoms and elements; outer sections bursting with clouds, mountains, mythical animals (elephants, lions, dragons), wrathful protectors on mounts (including fierce figures riding white horses with weapons and flames), and narrative scenes of spiritual transformation. The black background enhances the vibrant mineral pigments and abundant gold leaf accents, creating a luminous, cosmic depth.
Painted on traditional linen canvas in classic Nepalese/Tibetan style, it’s in excellent condition with vivid, unfaded colors and fine details. Ideal for meditation, altar display, or as a centerpiece in a collection of Himalayan sacred art.
