Dear Bidders, I'm offering here a set of 3 sculptural porcelain vases from the Structura Paper Noire series, designed by German designer Martin Freyer for Rosenthal Studio-Line. This striking black edition is inspired by the texture and structure of folded paper, translated into expressive geometric relief surfaces. The deep matt-black glaze enhances the architectural character of the design and gives the pieces a strong, contemporary presence. The Structura Paper collection represents Rosenthal’s experimental design approach of the late 20th century and is today highly appreciated by collectors of modern European design. The sculptural relief surface creates a strong graphic effect reminiscent of Op-Art aesthetics. Martin Freyer (1909–1974) was a German painter, graphic artist and industrial designer, also known for creating the original Volkswagen emblem and working across architecture, graphic and product design. He collaborated with Rosenthal from 1964 to 1974, contributing several influential pieces to their design program.
