Bronzezeit Bronze Große Speerspitzenklinge (Ohne mindestpreis)
A large Bronze Age bronze spearhead, featuring a leaf-shaped blade which tapers from the upwards-sloping shoulders to a tip. A central mid-rib runs down the centre of the blade, diverging into V-shaped channels near the tang. A short, flat tang extends from the bottom of the blade. The tip of the tang, now broken off, would have probably featured a rivet-hole. Signs of wear as consistent with age such as chips to the edges of the blade, some surface pitting, and earthly encrustations.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons.
Measurements: (circa) L 48cm x W 6.5cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
