The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 This is a well-preserved vintage Japanese bronze bell (Bonsho style) from the Showa Period (mid-20th century). This particular piece features exquisite relief carvings and symbolic motifs, making it a beautiful example of Japanese metalwork. The top of the bell is adorned with a highly detailed "Ryuzu," a dragon-shaped handle that symbolizes spiritual power and protection. The body of the bell is decorated with elegant carvings of the mythical phoenix, representing grace, virtue, and rebirth. A traditional circular floral emblem is cast near the base, often serving as the designated striking point (Tsuki-za) in traditional Japanese bells. In the Japanese tradition, these bells are hollow and do not have an internal clapper. They are designed to be struck from the outside with a wooden mallet, producing a deep, resonant sound. A decorative purple silk cord is attached to the Ryuzu. There are two minor, shallow dents below the Phoenix relief. There is natural oxidation and surface scratches consistent with age, including a small patch of verdigris on inside. The cord shows minor fraying but remains intact.
