Saint Minas of Kotuan is a Christian saint and a famous miracle worker.
He is the patron saint of the family, but he is also considered the protector of people who have set out on a long journey, the guardian of the homeless and orphans, of folk healers, witch doctors, he protects women and helps them conceive, and strengthens marriages.
The story of the power of Saint Minas
Saint Minas was a soldier in Egypt. Because he professed the Christian faith, he was beheaded with a sword in 296 under two wicked kings: Diocletian and Maximian. At that time, the two issued a decree that all Christians who did not worship idols should be tortured and killed.
Saint Minas could not bear this misfortune, he renounced his title of warrior and withdrew far from people into a desert near the city of Kotuan. He preferred to live with the beasts rather than with people who did not believe in God. He wandered alone in the mountains and deserts for a long time, studying the law of God, purifying his soul with fasting and prayer, and serving his God day and night.
He lived like this for a long time, until one day he learned that there would be a celebration in the city in honor of the pagan deities, at which the citizens would arrange noisy spectacles and vile sacrifices. Saint Minas could not bear this and decided to go down to the city to denounce the self-forgetful. The mayor ordered the troublemaker of the celebration to be arrested. The saint was tortured cruelly - he was beaten with ox sinews, his body was scraped with iron hooks, and he was hung upside down on a tree. Finally, they cut off his head with a sword and threw his long-suffering body into the fire.
After the fire was extinguished, the believers gathered the remains of the martyr, wrapped them in clean linen cloths and anointed them with incense. Soon they brought the holy remains to his hometown of Alexandria and buried him with honors. After some time, a church was built on this site, named after the saint, and countless miracles occurred in it.
