Töpferware, Porzellan - Otafuku – Versteckte Shunga - Shōwa Zeit (1926-1989) (Ohne mindestpreis)
Kakushi-syunga refers to erotic motifs resembling shunga hidden in secret places.
This is a ceramic piece modeled after the Otafuku mask.
The front face is Otafuku that is a very popular, auspicious character in folk culture. The erotic painting on the back expresses a wish for fertility.
It is intended for wall display. There are holes on both sides of the face; you thread a string through them, tie it, and hang it on a hook.
The front is designed for display, while the playful spirit and wishes are hidden on the back. I think this is one of the unique aspects of Japanese culture.
Condition:
The hanging cord is missing.
There is some age-related wear, but no noticeable damage.
It is in very good condition.
Please see pictures detail.
