Bukhara-Deckeltopf - Kupfer - Usbekistan - 19. Jahrhundert

Ottoman Copper Lidded Pot – 19th Century Material: Copper, tinned interior Technique: Hand-forged, hand-engraved Period: 19th century Origin: Bukhara, Uzbekistan Condition: Good, consistent with age and use Dimensions Height: 22 cm Diameter: 25 cm Weight: 2.2 kg Description Authentic copper pot with original lid, dating to the 19th century. The vessel is entirely hand-forged from thick copper sheets and richly decorated with hand-engraved floral and geometric motifs, characteristic of Ottoman metalwork from the Balkans and Anatolia. The pot retains its original matching lid, fitted with a solid hand-hammered handle. The construction features riveted attachments and a traditional locking plate, all executed by hand, clearly indicating pre-industrial craftsmanship. The interior is originally tinned and shows honest wear from long-term household use, which is typical and expected for an authentic utilitarian object of this age. Marks / Punches The interior shows an old tinner’s or workshop mark, accompanied by small punch marks. These are not official hallmarks, but rather traditional workshop or control punches, commonly associated with re-tinning, repair, or quality copperware workshops during the 19th century. Condition Report Age-related wear and surface patina throughout Interior tinning with areas of wear, consistent with age No visible cracks observed Structurally stable, lid fits well Overall preserved in very good authentic condition for an 19th-century household vessel. Remarks Large, heavy and richly engraved Ottoman copper vessels of this quality and age are becoming increasingly scarce. This piece represents a genuine historical household object, suitable for collectors of Ottoman / Islamic metalwork or antique copperware.
