I am Gaya Sahakyan, a Barcelona-based artist of Armenian origin, raised in a family of artists (my mother is a painter). My relationship with art began early: I trained at an art school in Yerevan and exhibited from a young age, including an early solo presentation and recognition in a young artists’ painting competition in Armenia. Over the years, I have taken part in both group and individual exhibitions in Armenia and Barcelona. More recently, my work was shown in an exhibition organised by Encajes.net, connected to Barcelona’s cultural programme around its designation as World Capital of Architecture 2026—a context that aligns closely with my interest in ornament, structure, and architectural rhythm. Alongside my artistic training, I have also pursued a rigorous academic and professional career in Barcelona outside the arts. This background brings a structured, analytical mindset to my studio work—planning, consistency, and precision—and reflects the way I approach art: as a serious, long-term practice developed with discipline rather than an occasional pastime. Built as a circular mandala, it merges macramé texture and hand-applied clay into repeating botanical motifs around a quiet centre—like a crown of petals opening outward. Formed through slow, layered stages with extended curing periods, the relief gains true depth, crisp detail, and subtle variation. Finished in acrylic and sealed with protective varnish, the satin-white monochrome amplifies light and shadow, shifting gently throughout the day. From a distance, it reads as minimal and serene; up close, it becomes richly tactile—an original 3D wall artwork created to bring clarity, softness, and renewal to contemporary interiors.
