Large 19th-century Chinese Nanking porcelain warrior vase. Impressive large baluster-shaped vase decorated in famille verte enamels with lively warrior and court scenes, horses and attendants in a continuous narrative composition. The painting is vivid and expressive, with strong outlines and bright green, iron-red and soft yellow tones, characteristic of Nanking ware from the 19th century. A particularly attractive and uncommon feature of this vase is the presence of applied prunus branches in relief on the upper section. Such relief decoration is far less common on Nanking vases and is usually associated with higher-quality and more elaborate examples. The vase measures approximately 44 cm in height and 19 cm in diameter at the body, making it a striking and decorative display piece. The interior is glazed, and the rim shows typical kiln and firing characteristics consistent with the period. Condition is good overall for its age. There are two small flake chips beneath the neck, which are not highly distracting when the vase is displayed. No structural cracks observed. A fine and decorative 19th-century Nanking warrior vase, and a strong example for collectors of Chinese export porcelain or institutions with a focus on Qing dynasty decorative arts. Will be packed very good for transport.
