Large rock crystal amulet in the form of a reclining lion Culture Ancient Egypt Dating Late Period, circa 664–332 BC Description Large amulet finely carved from rock crystal, representing a reclining lion. The animal is rendered in a compact, stylised yet clearly identifiable form, with schematic modeling of the head, mane and body. A longitudinal perforation runs through the body, allowing suspension. Lion amulets symbolized strength, protection and royal power, and examples carved from hard stone such as rock crystal are considerably rarer than those produced in faience. Condition Intact. Minor natural inclusions and surface wear consistent with age and material. No restorations. Provenance Private French collection, assembled in the 1970s–1980s.
