2020 Anders Frederik Steen & Anne Bruun Blauert, - Ardèche - 2 Flaschen (0,75 l)

From Ardèche | “I fall in love at least three times” 2020 + “I guess this is what I would have said” 2021 Rare two-bottle set from Anders Frederik Steen, a Danish-born vigneron now based in the Ardèche, crafting wines with a poetic approach and an uncompromising natural philosophy. I fall in love at least three times 2020 (Rosé, Grenache Noir): A deep, oxidative rosé pressed slowly over five days and aged for two years in old barriques. This wine is rich, textured, and hauntingly aromatic, with notes of bergamot, wild herbs, and crushed stone. The 2020 vintage is particularly rare, as Steen lost much of his crop to hail, making this a true collector’s gem—a rosé that defies expectations and ages with grace. I guess this is what I would have said 2021 (White, Viognier/Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc): A skin-contact white macerated for 10 days, offering a complex, layered profile of citrus zest, white flowers, and a touch of oxidative depth. The 2021 vintage is vibrant and energetic, with a wild, untamed character that reflects Steen’s hands-off philosophy. Only a handful of bottles were produced. A former sommelier at Noma and co-founder of Copenhagen’s legendary Manfreds & Relae, Steen transitioned from curating wine lists to making his own, driven by a desire for authenticity, minimal intervention, and pure expression of terroir. His philosophy is simple: "Nothing added. Nothing taken away." Every wine is made from grapes and only grapes, with no sulfur, no filtration, and no fining—just the raw, unadulterated voice of the vineyard and vintage. Steen’s wines are ephemeral, poetic, and deeply personal. Each cuvée is named after a line of poetry or song lyrics, reflecting the emotional and artistic journey behind the bottle. His approach is unconventional and intuitive, with spontaneous fermentations, extended macerations, and aging in old barrels or amphorae. The result? Wines that are alive, evolving, and impossible to replicate—each vintage is a one-time expression, never to be repeated The playful bottle names reflect Anders’s belief that wine should be expressive, human, and memorable — as memorable as love, curiosity, and honest communication. His wines are rarely available outside dedicated natural wine lists and collector circles. Stored under professional cellar conditions.
