Wikingerzeit Bronze mit der Gebo-Rune und Odins Auge (Ohne mindestpreis)

Wear piece of history, not just jewerly. Viking Age Bronze Ring with Gebo Rune and Odin’s Eye Motif Object Type: Ring Period: Viking Age Dating: ca. 8th–11th century AD Material: Bronze alloy Technique: Casting, surface finishing Possible Context of Use: Symbolic personal object related to marriage, alliance, or social contract Dimensions: D. 21 mm I. 16.7 mm Weight: 2.81 mm Description This ring may be interpreted within the symbolic framework of the Viking Age mentality, drawing on runic and ideological traditions. The X-shaped marks clearly visible on both shoulders of the ring can be associated with the Gebo (ᚷ) rune, which in Old Norse thought represents reciprocal gift-giving, alliance, and binding agreements. Gebo signifies relationships entered freely yet entailing mutual obligation and responsibility, and is therefore closely linked to marriage, political alliances, and social contracts. The central circular motif on the bezel may be interpreted as a symbolic reference to Odin’s Eye, a concept associated with awareness, sacrifice, and the pursuit of knowledge. Within Norse cosmology, the eye embodies vigilance and the conscious acceptance of responsibility in exchange for insight. Considered together, these elements suggest that the ring functioned not merely as personal adornment, but as a symbolic object expressing conscious commitment, social bonding, and ideological responsibility within Viking society. Cultural Period and Iconographic Assessment Report Upon request, prior to shipment, a ''Cultural Period and Iconographic Assessment Expert Report'', together with a signed ownership document issued in your name, can be provided in PDF format within 3–5 business days. Technical Notice Regarding Descriptions Information concerning the dating, function, and symbolic meaning of ancient and archaeological objects may not always be definitive. Assessments are based on typological comparisons, parallels in museum collections, and expert opinion.
