A nice patinated bronze okimono 置物 depicting the deity Ebisu 恵比寿, one of the Seven Lucky Gods 七福神 (Shichifukujin).
Ebisu is shown standing and holding a red sea bream in his right hand, while his left hand grasps a fishing rod. From his right shoulder hangs a basket filled with freshly caught fish. He turns his head toward a karako 唐子 (Chinese boy), who playfully tugs at his robe.
The figures stand on a rocky base with an undulating rim suggestive of waves.
Period:
Japan, early to mid-Shôwa period (1920s–40s).

Height 41.5 cm, width 32.5 cm, depth 17.5 cm.
