The work speaks about a moment of internal fracture, when transformation has already happened, but the past still holds power. Related to my exploration of borderline states and internal thresholds.
There is a the skull at the bottom, it symbolizes what should have left. Above it there is a sitting figure, frozen between layers of colored strata. The yellow field at the top is already-formed energy for growth, a new state that exists and waits. But layers of orange, ochre, green, and brown create a barrier, accumulated patterns, habits, fears cling to each level, preventing the ascent.
The new self already exists, but the old still has strength and pulls back toward decay. The figure tries to break free, but close is the feeling of final rupture—that critical point where the former identity must die to clear the path upward. The fault line runs through the entire structure, marking the boundary between two states of existence.

- Possible color deviations are due to light, monitor and camera.

Bio.
Konstantin Danilov (b. 1979, Moscow) is a painter and muralist based in Athens, Greece. A pioneer of Russia’s 1990s graffiti scene, his practice evolved toward Color Field painting, blending bold spatial compositions with psychological and emotional depth.
He has exhibited at major institutions such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, RuArts Foundation, and Burning Man x Sotheby’s (New York). His works are part of notable collections, including the STRAAT Museum (Amsterdam), Montresso Foundation, RuArts Foundation, and Sofia Trotsenko Collection.
Danilov has held solo shows at Triumph Gallery, Fineart Gallery, and Reloft Art in Moscow, and has participated in international fairs such as Urban Art Fair (Paris) and Affordable Art Fair (Amsterdam). His street art projects span over 20 countries, from Hong Kong to Paris and New York.
His work explores themes of emotional perception, ecological fragility, and transformation of personality and the interaction between one’s inner world and the external environment, including in the context of emigration. Using techniques such as painting around the edges of the canvas to reflect the hidden emotional layers that frame our conscious experience.
