[Description]
"A Jewel of the Tea Room. Kyo-yaki Pierced Plum Lid Rest."
This is an elegant Futa-oki (Lid Rest used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony) crafted by the prestigious Omuro Kiln in Kyoto.
A Futa-oki is used by the tea master to rest the hot lid of the iron kettle or the bamboo water ladle during the ceremony.
[Design: Ninsei Style & Ume-Sukashi]
Ninsei Style: It features a warm, cream-colored glaze with a beautiful fine crackle pattern, a hallmark of the traditional "Ninsei" style of Kyoto ceramics.
Ume-Sukashi (Pierced Plum): The true beauty of this piece lies in its meticulous openwork. The red and white plum blossoms (Ume) are not only hand-painted with overglaze enamels and real gold accents but are also carefully pierced through the ceramic. This delicate cut-out design adds a sense of lightness and sophisticated playfulness.

Comes with the original signed wooden box (Tomobako) bearing the kiln's seal.
