Tom Wesselmann (after) - Nude No 1 / Art Pop 1970

Nude No 1 / Art Pop 1970 of Tom Wesselmann. Tom Wesselmann was an American pop-art artist, creator of sculptures, paintings and collages, and specialized in female nudes. His figures of women caused great impact at the time because of the explicitness of his nudes. Wesselmann began his career in comics, and became interested in caricatures. After a visit to MoMA he admired the work of Willem de Kooning, and decided to devote himself to painting, but realized that his work had to go in the opposite direction.Pop, which was just beginning, seemed to be his thing, although he was not conscious of participating in any movement. After dreaming the phrase “red, white and blue,” he decided to paint a large American nude with a palette limited to those colors and his career took off.Wasselmann's art was instant, fresh and very new for the time. He mainly liked the female nude, but he also did quite a few landscapes and still lifes with elements of everyday life. His paintings were small at first and then gigantic. First small collages and later oil paintings and acrylics in which he even incorporated real objects, including a lighted TV. Wasselmann's nudes show an accentuated sensuality, they want to be explicit, but making it clear that they are reproductions. They are painted with flat shapes and bright colors. Some seem almost abstract, but Wasselmann usually puts the focus on the carnal treatment of some areas such as the pubis, nipples and lips. They are almost allegories of women as sexual symbols. Size: 49.5 x 69.5 cm. All posters have been selected by art lovers for art lovers. Collector's item. This item is shipped certified with a tracking number and carefully protected.
