A nice well made Yixing teapot in a shape called Gong Deng 宫灯, finished in a pear-skin surface. The ball shaped teapot is has a nice and robust proportions, but still remains elegant. The handle, short spout and round knob are balanced and well made. The lid fits tightly on the pot.
This shape of pot was very popular in Japan during the 19th and early 20th century. See attached a picture of this shape depicted in the 'Catalogue of Yixing Pots' made by famous Japanese collector Okugenbo 奧玄寶 (1836—1897).
Inscribed at the underside with Shi Heng 士衡
Jin Shi Heng was a potter from the Yongzheng to Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. He focused on imitating antique pieces and works by famous artists. His craftsmanship was exquisite, and he mainly made olive-shaped pieces

H9,7 x 13,5 (spout to handle) x W9 cm
Condition:
No damage! The inside rim on the teapot has a baking flaw, but no though. Only minor tea-stains and lime-scale buildup due to use. Checked with strong UV light for defects.
