Altes Ägypten, Neues Reich Kette mit Udjat-Augen-Anhänger und Faïence-Perlen

An Egyptian necklace with a faience Udjat-eye pendant and faience beads. Age: approx. 1550 - 332 BC (New Kingdom to Late Period) Size: total length 55 cm and weight 7 g, length of udjat pendant 2 cm Condition: very good condition The necklace consists of a series of predominantly turquoise faience beads, which vary in shape and include both tubular and ring-shaped elements. The beads have a uniformly preserved, glassy surface with a turquoise glaze. The central decorative element is a finely crafted faience Udjat amulet. The amulet depicts the stylised Eye of Horus in a three-dimensional design. The typical elements of the Udjat eye – eye, brow and markings – are present, with a small missing section. The surface is well preserved, with only minor signs of wear due to age. Necklaces with Udjat amulets are well documented from the New Kingdom to the Late Period and were worn in both everyday and funerary contexts. In ancient Egypt, the Udjat eye was considered a protective symbol and stood for healing, wholeness and warding off evil. The combination of faience and carnelian corresponds to a choice of materials frequently used in ancient Egyptian jewellery craftsmanship, in which colour and symbolic meaning played a central role. Provenance: From the Bavarian private collection U.T. before 2005. As well as the private collection M. H. from southern Germany. Collected and acquired in the 1970s and 1980s. Due to the German Cultural Property Protection Act, an export license is required for this item. The application fee of €25 must be paid separately by the buyer. We will submit the necessary documents and process the application free of charge. The processing time is approximately 7–10 business days. Authenticity: As with all our items, authenticity is guaranteed without any time restriction. Protection of cultural assets: All items offered originate from renowned collections and were acquired at art auctions and from estates.
