Maritime Objekte - Handgeblasener Glas-Schwimmer für die Fischerei aus Japan, mit Seilnetz, 23,6 cm

This is an authentic vintage Japanese glass fishing float that was genuinely used in coastal fishing. Unlike marked examples, this float is unmarked — a characteristic commonly found on many early production floats used purely for practical fishing purposes. The absence of a maker’s mark does not diminish its authenticity; rather, it reflects its original utilitarian role at sea. The glass presents a beautiful ocean-toned palette ranging from soft aqua to deeper sea green. Under different lighting conditions, the color shifts subtly between translucent pale blue-green and richer marine hues. Please refer carefully to the images for the most accurate representation. A particularly attractive feature of this float is the strong presence of natural air bubbles within the glass. These bubbles are characteristic of traditional hand-blown production and cannot be replicated in modern machine-made glass. Combined with gentle surface waviness, they give the float depth, individuality, and strong visual character. The float retains its original rope net, which shows authentic aging, darkened patina, and wear from prolonged maritime use. The rope has developed a rich, earthy tone over time and remains structurally intact, greatly enhancing its historical authenticity and display presence. With its substantial size and solid weight, this float has a commanding presence and makes an impressive focal point in maritime, coastal, or rustic interiors. Dimensions Circumference: approx. 74 cm (approx. 29.1 inches) Diameter: approx. 23.6 cm (approx. 9.3 inches) Weight: approx. 1.4 kg (approx. 3.1 lbs) (Measurements are approximate due to the hand-blown nature of the glass.) Condition Overall very good vintage condition. The glass shows age-related surface scratches, natural bubbles, and gentle waviness consistent with authentic maritime use. The rope net displays natural aging, patina, and minor fraying appropriate for its age. No cracks or structural damage observed. Highlights • Substantial size with strong display presence • Beautiful sea-toned aqua to green coloration • Abundant natural bubbles – prized by collectors • Original rope net preserved • Authentic maritime artifact from Japan’s fishing history Shipping Carefully packed for international delivery.
