Karuizawa Distillery: A Domestic Distillery That No Longer Exists, Completely Closed in 2012

Karuizawa's 100% malt whiskey distillery completely closed in 2012.

All equipment, including the pot stills, was removed, and all stock stored in the warehouse was sold. As a result, no official bottles have been released, and the whiskey is now available in limited releases from a few bottlers.

However, its rarity and flavor have been rediscovered, leading to increased popularity and making it extremely difficult to obtain.

It is currently considered one of the most sought-after whiskeys in the world.
