This series silver thimbles was designed and made by Norman Grant, Dust Studios in Edinburgh, Scotland. The series was made for the thimble collector's club "De Vingerhoed" in Holland, each thimble in an edition of 250 (all sold out at the time of issue). - Princess Juliana's (formerly Queen Juliana) 75th birthday, 30th April 1984. - Prince Willem Alexander's (now King W.A.) 18th birthday 27th April 1985. - Prince Bernhard's 75th birthday-with elephant band 29th June 1986. - Juliana and Bernhard's 50th Wedding Anniversary 1987 7th January 1987. The thimbles are 925 silver, with gold plating and all with enameled features. Juliana/Bernhard's anniversary thimble has a ruby, and sapphire in the crown (a small zircon is missing). It is rare to find a number of the thimbles from this series, together at one time! Silver marks include: Lion/England, Castle/Edinburgh, NG=designer, Year-letter, KS/"De Vingerhoed", Z1/Dutch assay (925 silver). The Juliana/Bernhard 50th Wedding Anniversary thimble is unmarked as it was the original sample thimble. Had it been sold at the time of issue, it would have been marked as above. The thimbles are in excellent condition (no damage to enamel). A special addition to a thimble or Royalty collection. Careful packaging will ensure a safe delivery. (See my feedback on Catawiki).
