This is an antique Pottery Print Under Glaze Mettlach 1/2L Beer Stein #2184 made in 1895. It shows 2 Gnomes dancing with dancing vegetables and one who is playing the Bagpipes: The gnomes represent the work of Heinrich Schlitt, a principal artist for Mettlach Steins of Villeroy and Boch. The lid is inlayed pewter. The stein is crafted in fine stoneware with richly detailed relief decoration and hand-painted underglaze print in earthy green and brown tones typical for the golden era of Mettlach production. The base is clearly marked with the Mettlach castle mark, VB logo, and model number 2184. Height (to top of handle): 22 cm Capacity: 1/2 Liter (marked) Very good antique condition with normal age-related wear. No visible cracks or repairs.
