Keltisch Silber Fibula mit Originalstift und Spiralfeder, Slowakei

This beautifully preserved decorated silver fibula represents the Late La Tène to early Romano-Celtic transitional period (c. 150 BCE – 50 CE). The bow is gracefully curved and relatively thick, terminating in a decorative knob. The fibula remains as robust and relatively weighty example due to its fully intact nature, including its original (sharp) silver pin and coiled spring, both in excellent condition of preservation. It is very rare to find silver fibulae in such condition, especially specimens such as this which have been buried underground for millennia. Fibulae of this type served as clothing fasteners and symbols of status. The form, level of craftsmanship, and silver composition indicate that this was likely a high-status object, worn by an individual of prominence within the Celtic community of Slovakia in this time period. The piece’s morphology demonstrates the stylistic evolution of Iron Age Celtic metalwork into early Romano-Celtic influences, providing both collectors and scholars with a rare intact example of fashion from this period within Central Europe. Specimen Details: • Period: Late La Tène / Early Romano-Celtic (c. 150 BCE – 50 CE) • Material: Silver • Weight: 14.1g of Celtic Silver • Condition: Complete; original pin and coil spring intact and functional • Dimensions: Approx. 50mm long x 25mm width coil. • Features: Decorative terminal knob; thick curved bow; intact spring mechanism and sharp, intact pin • Provenance: Slovakian find; part of a private UK collection belonging to DH, a specialist in ancient artefacts. • Remarks: Rare intact example; high-status object; demonstrates transitional Celtic to Romano-Celtic style Provenance note- This specimen was previously part of a private collection of ancient artefacts that has been studied, researched and verified by an expert in the Industry with over 25 years experience, as part of his own collection. It is accompanied by an old label detailing age and origin. Shipped from the UK safely and insured worldwide. Catawiki disclaimer: This object has been dated based on style by the seller . No further tests, such as an analysis of metals(XRF-test) have been conducted to check the integrity of the piece.
