Charming small night lamp featuring a spherical shade in marbled (“marmoréen”) glass, beautifully mottled in deep red and purple with a soft clouded effect. The globe is supported by an elegant tripod mount in patinated metal, richly worked with a whimsical bestiary: three winged fish forming the feet, topped with a small fish finial. The pierced, graphic cut-out lines and aged surface give the piece a striking decorative presence from every angle. This pairing of marbled glass with an expressive Art Nouveau-style mount is typical of the taste around circa 1910 and evokes the École de Nancy spirit. Presented in the manner of Schneider and Daum Nancy. Unsigned. When lit, the marbled glass produces a warm, dramatic glow with lively colour depth. Condition Overall good vintage condition. Minor very small chips at the base of the shade, not visible when mounted. The metal (not iron) shows age-related wear and patina consistent with age.
