A big Wucai reserve decorated 'Lotus, Chrysanthemum and Peony' Chinese porcelain jar. China, 18th century, early Qing dynasty, Transitional (1620-1683) period, Shunzhi (順治, 1643–1661) reign. Jars from this period, particularly in such excellent condition, are extremely rare. Item offered with no reserve price, you decide how much to pay. Finely potted in baluster shape, short neck with concave walls, top-rim under brown glaze, base unglazed, with turning traces. Superbly painted to the exterior in Wucai palette with four large panels of flowers (lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, and ?) on white ground, joint in corners with green, yellow and red Ruyi heads, all on ground of dense iron-red scales. Geometrical band in green and red above the foot-rim. Band of scales on the shoulder, followed by a geometrical band. The neck with a border of upright lappets in red and green. UV- and daylight pictures included. Dimensions: height - 34,5 cm; diameter – c. 25,8 cm. Weight - 3750 g. Provenance: Belgian private collection of the noble family. Conditions report: excellent condition, no damages. Minimal use-related scratches to the glaze and painted decor. Minor firing and painting imperfections.
