Standuhr - Birchall (Nantwich) - Antik - Eiche - 1750–1800
Late 18th century English longcase clock signed Birchall, Nantwich (Cheshire), circa 1790.
Eight-day weight-driven movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell. The clock strikes the hours in full and once on the half hour.
Original painted arch dial with moonphase in the arch, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture. Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic minute markers. Finely painted harbour landscape to the centre and allegorical figures in the spandrels.
Signed to the dial: “Birchall – Nantwich”.
Oak case with arched hood, fluted columns and brass capitals. Trunk with shaped door and panelled base.
Height: 220cm
The clock is complete with pendulum and weights.
Condition: good antique condition consistent with age and use. Minor wear commensurate with age.
