O. Sokolovi - Fossiler Zahn - 6.3 cm - 5.2 cm (Ohne mindestpreis)
→6.3 cm long x 5.2 cm wide approximately 40 Million year old Otudus Sokolovi shark teeth
It is a beautiful and curved Sokolovi shark teeth. It has lots of white lines pattern on it which is attributed to plant roots during the prolonged fossilization of 44 to 35 million years ago, from the late Eocene to early Oligocene epochs. The teeth features two fully serrated cusps. The root is nearly symmetrical and teeth has very good serration profile all the way till the tip. One or two serrations on right side of the main body is eroded. The most beautiful feature of the teeth is its mysterious colors. One can claim that Megalodon teeth are very big and in nice colors but Sokolovi teeth have their own distinct beauty. Broken tip Sokolovi teeth are quite common but in this teeth the tip is in excellent shape. The shape of teeth is nearly equilateral triangle.
Sokolovi was a large shark capable to taking large prey and it lived during late Eocene to early Oligocene. Withtin Otodus family it is sometimes placed between Otodus auriculatus and Otodus angustidens and sometime it is regarded as Otodus auriculatus. It is a very interesting ancient shark in its own realm which will eventually give rise to the largest shark ever known and part of Otuudus family i.e., Otuudus Megalodon.
The teeth is in natural state and to the best of our understanding no repair or restoration have been done.
Overall its a beautiful teeth to look at and feel it in hand.
