Type of jewel: Vintage Platinum Diamond Convertible Clip Earrings with Detachable Chandelier Drops Condition: In well-preserved condition, especially given the jewel’s age. The detachable drops and their hanging system appear to be a later addition, as the cuts of the stones in the drops seem more recent than those in the clip earrings themselves. Style: Vintage Era: ca. 1950-1960 Extra information: These are often described as day to evening earrings. Without the drops they read restrained and wearable by day, while with the detachable drops attached they become longer and more dramatic for evening wear. The drops can be attached and removed easily by the wearer. Material: platinum (touchstone tested) Diamonds: Two old mine brilliant cut (sometimes referred to in the trade as “Bolshevik” cuts).
